1. GIS Fundamentals using QGIS, ARCGIS

This intensive course provides the foundation for Understanding and appreciating GIS, What it can do and How others are using it. Participants shall learn the basic functions of a GIS, GIS Terminology, Data analysis, retrieval and visualization, Create maps, query a GIS database, and perform spatial analysis.
By the end of the training, participants can use their data to create maps, perform analysis, share information with their audience (colleagues, donors, government, non-GIS users etc)

2. Advanced GIS(Geodatabases & Advanced Analysis) using QGIS or ARCGIS

This course is intended for users already familiar with the basics of GIS and who wants to improve their skills. The course will focus on Advanced Analysis regarding the management and manipulation of raster data, spatial analysis, using PostGIS and relational databases.

The courseis structured in units with different levels of difficulty to help the learners to handle the advanced GIS tools.

3. GIS Application in Statistics and Census

This training is meant to improve skills of statisticians whooffer regular technical support to delineate, maintain and update Enumeration Area frameworks, produce enumerator maps, monitor field work activities and develop cartography products to present and disseminate census results.

Course Objectives:

  • To represent Geospatial data and analyze spatial relationships using QGIS/ ArcGIS
  • To conduct Network-Based Analysis
  • To conduct Hotspot Analysis and create Heat maps using QGIS/ ArcGIS
  • To create a dashboard that monitors real-time field observations

4. Google Earth Engine Training

This hands-on Google Earth Engine (GEE) course aims to equip participants with comprehensive skills in remote sensing and geospatial analysis. Participants will start by understanding the fundamentals of remote sensing and receiving an introduction to GEE. They will learn to work with image and feature collections, perform filtering, create mosaics, clip images, and export data. Intermediate skills will cover Earth Engine objects, calculating indices, cloud masking, using reducers and creating time-series charts.

The course will also introduce machine learning for supervised classification, including accuracy assessment and area calculations.

Participants will explore change detection techniques and develop the ability to build and publish Earth Engine apps. Additionally, the course will cover the GEE Python API for automating tasks and the integration of GEE with QGIS for enhanced geospatial analysis.

5. GIS for Hydraulic Modeling and Monitoring

This training provides a comprehensive understanding of GIS applications in hydraulic modeling and monitoring. It covers essential concepts, tools and techniques for effective spatial data management, stream and stormwater analysis and hydraulic modeling. Participants will gain hands-on experience in setting up and utilizing QGIS/ ArcGIS for various hydraulic scenarios, ensuring they are equipped to handle Water, Sanitation and Hygiene challenges. By the end of the course, students will be able to create, manage, and analyze spatial data in hydrology.

6. GIS Application in Monitoring and Evaluation (QGIS, ArcGIS)

This is a comprehensive ten days course designed to help participants learn and understand how to use GIS in projects Monitoring and Evaluation. The participants will be exposed to data processing, data management, updating, analysis, visualization and reporting in a GIS environment. They will also learn how to integrate spatial and non-spatial data from different sources and displaying the same in a GIS environment.

7. Web GIS and Mapping

Web mapping is the process of using maps delivered by geographical information systems (GIS) on the internet through client- server architecture.
Web mapping usually involves a web browser to consume services.
These services include serving interactive maps, GIS data and location based services.
Participants will learn how to prepare and share geographic information so that it can effectively be used by colleagues, decision-makers, and non-GIS audiences.

8. Mobile GIS and Mapping (Kobo Toolbox, ODK, COMMCARE, Survey 123)

This course aims at providing a complete field to office mobile mapping workflow to the participants. Participants shall use their mobile devices (Mobile Phones, Tablets and GPS) to gather data, load the data into GIS and create maps. The course will enable the participants to also edit existing databases in the field and creating new data using field data processing techniques (Kobo Toolbox, ODK and COMMCARE).

9. ArcGIS Online Training

This is a comprehensive ten days course designed to help participants learn and understand how to use ArcGIS online, a cloud based mapping platform that offers collaboration tools for creating, visualizing, editing and sharing spatial information and also learn how to use ArcGIS Survey123 to create surveys, get answers and analyze results.

10. ArcGIS Pro Fundamentals

ArcGIS Pro is a full-featured professional desktop GIS application you can use to visualize and analyze data; create 2D maps and 3D scenes; and share your work to ArcGIS Online or your ArcGIS Enterprise portal.
